    A Black Country woman who has served the NHS in the Midlands for more than 30 years has been made a CBE.

    Elisabeth Buggins, who began her career as a regional administrative trainee in 1974 and has chaired the region's strategic health authority since 2002, said she was "so stunned I had to read the letter again and again".

    Ms Buggins admits that her own experiences of the NHS as a patient and a mother have enabled her to see where change and improvements have been needed.
